I was reading Coding In Paradise and learned something totally unrelated to coding but nevertheless really fun. Something about Playback in Quicktime, our ever favorite media player (not).
The post said that doing CTRL+Left Arrow would make the playback play in reverse. You know how some people will believe anything; conjuring up hidden words in songs when played backwards. That’s pretty neat. Well, quicktime can do it. You don’t even have to pay for this.
All you do is open up your video or sound file (provided that it regularly plays in Quicktime) and hit play. At any time, do CTRL+Left Arrow to reverse the playback. Then to switch back to regular play back, do a CTRL+Right Arrow. For some reason there is no option like this in any menu that I could find.
I had fun with this. I opened up Free Sound Recorder and recorded me saying something really simple.

Then, I opened the saved file in Quicktime and reversed it and I used Free Sound Recorder’s Output Recording feature to capture the sound. It comes out something like this. (Reversal of the sentence done here.)

I thought it was fun, so here are the two files. It’s too bad there isn’t some reliable way to include playback inside of the blog.
