The blog was just upgraded to the newest release of Wordpress, 2.7 RC 1! Over 250 commits to the trunk between beta 3 and RC 1.
I can’t say too much about Wordpress 2.7 RC 1 right now since I just started using it but I have discovered a number of other goodies.
Updating Wordpress 2.7 Beta 3 to Wordpress 2.7 RC 1
Last week I had a problem with this and the nightlies. I was board at first but then wanted to try to update to a nightly copy of the trunk to see if the Gravatars were fixed. I can say I figured it out now and I know what the problem is.
You might get this error,
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare pclziputilpathreduction() (previously declared in /homepages/67/2418927489/htdocs2/r/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/lib/pclzip.lib.php:5421) in /homepages/67/2418927489/htdocs2/r/wp-admin/includes/class-pclzip.php on line 5498
when you have Wordpress Automatic Update (WPAU) activated. I think it has something to do with the plugin (yes, it’s a plugin) being un-updated for the beta/rc releases. So simply disable the WPAU plugin from the plugin control panel and proceed to update your blog.
I honestly have no idea why I had not seen the mention of WPAU before this post. Pretty easy fix though.
Gravatar Support Fully Returns in Wordpress 2.7 RC 1
I noticed immediately upon returning to the dashboard after updating to RC 1 that Gravatars worked again. That’s excellent. I’m still surprised though that most people don’t have Gravatars setup but I don’t blame them. I personally prefer to decide what avatar to use for a particular site. At least the identicons, which look great in the comments area, work for everyone now.
Tighter Graphics in Wordpress 2.7 RC 1
Wordpress had an icon contest for the admin panel left-side control bar. The icons are now there with RC 1 and there is also a second set that is selectable somewhere. The icons looks very well fit with the WP-color theme. Great work. Also, I mentioned the Publish/Save Draft/Preview buttons looking unfinished in a post and now I they are better. Much more crisp and sharp. No more jpeg-like fragments.
Post Editor Hates Small Window, even in 27. RC 1
I noticed in WP 2.7 beta 3 that the Post Editor hates small window sizes. There clearly is an issue with it. When firefox is put into non-maximized mode, the post editor will function just fine, but it will be under the Publish/Tags/Categories draggable menus. This can be fixed by dragging those menus under the post editor but you’d have to drag them back when firefox is maximized again. It’s pretty annoying. I was hoping someone would notice this and fix it. I realize that the post editor might not be fully coded by WP but I was still hoping some relief on that front.
Images don’t auto-link to large size
I uploaded to screen shots to this post and set them to size medium. In WP 2.6, all scaled-down sizes were always linked to their large-full size counter parts automatically uploading and embedding the post. In 2.7 beta 3 and RC 1, that does not seem to the be case since this has happened before. The Link To field was blank and only once I clicked the Link to the Image button did I get the link in there.

Thanks ypou for tht man!
