I’ve been wondering about the price of Windows. I’ve seen a couple of blogs that think the signs point to a release somewhere between August and December. I think that’s a good guess because if Microsoft misses Back-To-School and Christmas again, they’ll end up in a hole they can’t get out of.
Anyway, so the price of Windows 7? Do you recall when Apple did their Keynote for Leopard? They said they’ll have basic, home premimum, professional, enterprise, all for the same price, in the same product. They said they’ll sell Leopard (10.5) for $129. If Microsoft doesn’t do something like that, cutting down the versions (home and professional) and cutting down their price of (from Microsoft’s Website) $319.95, there isn’t going to be much steam turning the engine.
So, here’s what I was thinking. Let’s set the price at $150. Why? Because, Microsoft wants money so instead of $149, they get an extra dollar and it’s easier to say. For what version do I speak of though? I speak for either a unified product or home edition if they must have multiple editions. I’d really perfer a single system though. So think $150 for Windows 7 Ultimate For There is Only 1 Windows 7.
So, then, what about all of those Windows Vista users? I’d like to give them a discount, there isn’t a feesable way to do it. I’d like to give them a discount for $50. Then it’s only $100 for those Vista users. Microsoft loosing tons on this right? Wrong.
No discount for XP users. That’s right. None. So since all of those XP hold outs are still out there, money won’t be problem since nobody liked Vista enough to try. So no discount for them. But like I said, there is no way anyone will get a discount anyway. If they did though; I’d certainly not give XP users a discount only because there are more of them, which means more money for our good friends, Microsoft. Isn’t that fair?
What do you think the price will be? And also, will there be a discount or other monetary incentive?
I just wish MS would get on TEAM AMERICA.
I have used the various issues and THEY ALL HAD PROBLEMS.
JUST LIKE IE7 does not work.
Because MS is not a team player Business’ have to write their own programs to go around to have a viable product.
It would be great if Americans could work together and provide a top shelf product ahead of the world.
Microsoft does a lot of great things but they also made many bad decisions in the past and still make them to this day. Money is certainly a goal of a company but consumer satisfaction should be important also.
a little bit expensive, and it is not known whether it will work or not…
$150 is just $21 more than OS10 and from the beta, it seems like it is stable. It works well with minimal memory and at this point in time, I take minimal to mean no less than 1GB. Netbooks might be 512MB but that’s silly since a stick of 1GB memory for a vender would be maybe three dollars at most.
What is making me angry right now is all of the Multiversion Windows 7 talk that is going around because of the 7025build.
I have 64 bit Ultimate and love it. Theres no way im upgrading.
It’s been over a year… never any issues,
