Sometimes I’m a bit trigger happy and prematurely hit mark all as read and then I miss out on a few things I actually wanted to read. In Gmail, there is a undo for just about anything. So where is it in Google Reader? No where to be found.
So let’s say you’re in Google Reader and you’re in list view, and you have just clicked mark all as read and everything in your feed is now no longer. You then suddenly remember one of the items in your feed, the one about “Pac Man vs Mario” so how do you recover it? If we had undo-mark all as read this would be so easy, but no, so we’re doing it the hard way.
Since I remember I was reading blogs when I saw the “Pac Man vs Mario” title, I’m going to limit my search to that specific tag.
Of course, if you don’t remember exactly what tag your item was under, you can always limit by read items. In fact, this alone might be enough to help you find your lost item!
If not, you can enter a few words of the title, and this can generally be enough to get you what you were looking for. So I enter, “Pac Man Mario” and guess what comes up. Exactly what I was looking for!
So what’s the lesson here? You can use “read items” with a couple words from the Title, and that might be enough to get the desired item, or you might have to be more specific and specify the tag of the item.
Happy reading!
On a side note, why doesn’t Google Reader have an undo for this?
