By Ryan on October 19, 2009

Since this is the week Windows 7 is getting released and I’m hosting a Windows 7 Party, I thought it would be great to share some of my favorite new features in Windows 7 with my readers.

Windows Update in Windows 7. Do you remember XP Windows Update? You always had to go through Internet Explorer [...]

Better than Windows Defragmenter

Better than Windows Defragmenter

By Ryan on October 8, 2009

Back in the old days, when Windows 98 and Windows 2000 were the major Windows systems, when you ran the built in defragging program, it would show you a nice graphic representation and bring the promise of speeding up the operating system.
While, in Windows Vista and in Windows 7, you don’t get those fancy graphics. [...]

Better Volume Control on Windows

Better Volume Control on Windows

By Ryan on July 30, 2009

When Windows Vista was introduced to the market a little less than two and a half years ago, new sound control features were added. They went generally unnoticed by the masses while ussually staring people right in their face. Have you changed the volume on Windows? You normally go to the system tray and click on [...]

Safari 4 Tabs on Windows

Safari 4 Tabs on Windows

By Ryan on February 25, 2009

I first tried Safari 4 on a Windows XP machine and while the Safari-part looked great (with its new Speed Dailesque start page) the top-bar (where the tabs sit) looked horrible.
The Safari 4 tabs on Windows XP in my opinion are the worst design elements of any Apple product I’ve ever seen. Let me describe [...]

Microsoft Pricing Windows 7

By Ryan on January 21, 2009

I’ve been wondering about the price of Windows. I’ve seen a couple of blogs that think the signs point to a release somewhere between August and December. I think that’s a good guess because if Microsoft misses Back-To-School and Christmas again, they’ll end up in a hole they can’t get out of.
Anyway, so the price [...]

Command Prompt from Context Menu

Command Prompt from Context Menu

By Ryan on January 1, 2009

I’ve wanted to be able to open Command Prompt from any folder and already have the directory set accordingly automatically. I finally got fed up with having to type the entire path of my folders so I went to find a way to get Command Prompt (CMD) from the Context Menu (CXM) of a file.
A [...]

Increase Productivity on Windows

Increase Productivity on Windows

By Ryan on October 21, 2008

My computer class uses Macs and thus I’ve become accustomed to their productivity features, like program switch, the dock, spotlight app-launch and my favorite, exposé.
You can only do one of these things in windows naturally (without using any programs) and that is simply program switching. To do it windows, although it may not look as [...]

Windows 7 isn’t Windows Version 7

By Ryan on October 13, 2008

Today, Microsoft put up a blog post on their Windows Vista Team Blog, Introducing Windows 7. The official codename of Windows 7 is: Windows 7. I bet you didn’t see that coming.
Anyway, if you look at the comments on that page, you’ll see some critisiem about the numbering of Windows. Honestly, I don’t think it’s [...]

Adobe Internal Error 2739 on Windows Vista

By Ryan on September 27, 2008

I was going to install Adobe Dreamweaver for a friend, however, he’s so lucky to have Vista. The problem is that Vista has issues. You can get an error when you try to install.
Internal Error 2739. Contact Customer Support.
It’s not very helpful, but it is good for a Google Search! Actually, it’s pretty easy to [...]
